This year, I finally got to experience Dweller for the first time, and it met my high expectations. As someone who has worked in the music industry for a couple of years, I have always felt uneasy about the lack of diversity, especially in electronic music. However, during the week, artists like Ok Williams, Lorraine James, LSDXOXO, and many others were celebrated, and their performances left me in awe. As I grow older, I am increasingly convinced that creating my own space in music and the arts is the way to go, rather than relying on "traditional institutions" to make room for people of color.
I came across a tweet that made me think about the value of documenting our narratives in this space. With the accessibility to create our own outlets and radio shows, what is the value of traditional media? Food for thought.

In other news, I recently contributed to Water & Music's season 3 report on creative AI. As part of this project, we had the opportunity to interview artists, founders, and labels, and hear their perspectives on how the music industry will be impacted by the disruption of AI.
The report itself contains a database of 40 different tools, case studies with founders, and a comprehensive deep-dive into the ethical and legal implications of creative AI. I am extremely proud to have been involved in this study, and I am grateful to Cherie, Brodie, and Yung for the many lessons I learned along the way.
